Two Story Foyer painting in Clarksville, TN

Many homes have these type of foyers.  This one was about 20' high.  Often times there is a lot of light coming in such as this one.   This lighting from the window (and very hard on a camera) will produce a major angular reflection on the two side walls.   Because of the numerous repairs the customer decided to go with the flat finish.  Although not as easy to clean, this was the best choice.

With new technologies, a top quality paint in a flat finish will give you a lightly washable finish that works well in foyers and living rooms.

Here is another look and a better picture.

Cream cabinets with glaze

I recently got called to look at some cabinets that had been previously painted a dark brown called "Turkish coffee"  by Sherwin Williams.

In the picture it doesn't look bad and many people are going with the dark finish.  However, after closer inspection the job was subpar.

In the picture it clearly shows what happens if you do not remove all grease and contaminants.  Check out this short clip below:

The client had decided to do a dark floor with cream colored cabinets and a warm glaze.  After a good cleaning and light sanding  I applied a primer then two coats of ppg breakthrough paint in "milk paint" color.

I also added a nice warm glaze and then followed up with two coats of clear in a satin finish.

As you see I painted the kick toe a satin black.  Here is another look at the completed cabinets:
